Home Insulation Grant

If you want to improve your home’s overall energy efficiency, proper insulation is a good place to begin. Energy costs are increasing each year and it’s recommended to take the necessary steps to reduce energy inefficiencies in your home. Luckily, you can now benefit from the current ECO4 scheme or any other programme providing either fully-funded or partially-funded home insulation grants.

As mentioned, different schemes offer insulation grants in the UK. The qualification process often changes. So if you were not eligible for a home insulation grant under the ECO3, it’s worth trying again and finding whether you are eligible under the current ECO4 scheme or other programmes. The easiest way to assess your eligibility for any grant is to work with our skilled professionals.

Before you submit your application for a home insulation grant, it’s important that you first ascertain the energy measure that’s suitable for your home. For instance, solid wall properties require a different insulation approach from cavity wall homes. Luckily, our experts understand different building styles and can recommend the best insulation option for your home. You may be eligible for a home insulation grant that covers the following;

Cavity Wall Insulation: Cavity wall insulation is an effective way to reduce heating bills by preventing up to 35% of heat loss from a property. Homes with cavity wall insulation can save up to £455 annually according to recent research. This research was based on detached property and fuel costs as of October 2023.

Loft Insulation: Homes with uninsulated lofts or with insulation less than 100mm thick may qualify for loft insulation grants. If the current insulation is beyond this level, it’s possible to get a survey and a quotation to top up the insulation to 270mm.

Room in Roof Insulation: Qualifying homeowners or private tenants with roof rooms or loft conversions may receive free room in roof insulation. The property must have minimal or no insulation in walls and ceilings and have a fixed staircase to access the loft.

Internal Wall Insulation: Households claiming benefits may be entitled to free internal wall insulation if the property owner or tenant. Suitable for properties with solid construction walls. If you are a tenant, it’s important to first seek permission from your landlord before the insulation installation.

External Wall Insulation: Grants cover up to 25% of the cost of installing external wall insulation, typically ranging from £7,000 to £15,000. These grants are suitable for properties with solid brick or concrete walls, or cavity walls unsuitable for cavity wall insulation.
